Popular shopping district in Rome

The triangle between Piazza di Spagna, Piazza del Popolo and Via del Corso is one of the most elegant shopping districts in Rome. Besides the well-known shopping streets Via Nazionale, Via Borgognona, Via Frattina, Via Margutta and Via delle Carozze, the Via Condotti is one of the most famous addresses in Rome. If you can afford to buy something in the world famous designer boutiques, jewellery stores, specialty food stores, antique shops and art galleries then you will have endless choices here. The Via Condotti in particular is a hot spot for wealthy Romans and is a popular promenade. Fashion, shoes, bags, refined accessories and exclusive designer pieces are sold here at corresponding prices. The name Condotti derives from the Italian word for water pipe (condotte). This was built under the road here by Pope Paul III in the 16th Century.

At Via Condotti No. 86 you will find a special highlight - the Antico Caffè Greco, the most famous cafe of the Eternal City. It opened in 1760 and has served many famous guests. Casanova enjoyed his coffee here as well as Baudelaire, Franz Liszt, Goethe, Tischbein and Mendelssohn, Wagner and Nietzsche.
