In the southwest of Lake Garda

Padenghe sul Garda is situated on the southwestern tip of Lake Garda. Besides the parish church of Santa Maria with valuable paintings by Paolo Veronese, it is primarily the imposing fortress overlooking the town that attracts the visitors. Similar to the northern neighbour Moniga del Garda, another village was built here within the walls which is well worth a visit. The fortress itself offered enough protection for the people around over the centuries. The large number of trenches and underground tunnels surrounding the fortress still surprise the visitor and provide subjects for lots of eerie tales and adventures.
