Roman theatre in Rimini
The Roman amphitheatre is the third of the big Roman monuments in Rimini. It was probably built in the 2nd century AD being the most important amphitheatre in Emilia Romagna with a capacity of 12,000 spectators. Little of the elliptical rings and approx. 60 arches has been preserved to this day. Big parts of the theatre were completely destroyed in World War II. In spite of the meagre ruins of this once grand structure, it is the only remaining Roman amphitheatre in the Emilia Romagna today.
