Dominican church and seminary
The church of San Nicolò with its triple apse and narrow windows is one of the main buildings of Italian Gothic. The massive brick church was built in the 13th and 14th century south of the old town and is now the head office of the seminary. The frescoes on the mighty round pillars were created by Tommaso da Modena and his students in the 14th century. A work by the master himself is “San Girolamo” in the second round column on the left. In the neighbouring Dominican monastery, now a seminary, you will find a beautiful cloister and a chapter house. The lifelike portraits of famous Dominicans were also created by Tommaso da Modena. The important people of Treviso in the Cappella Onigo were painted by Lorenzo Lotto in the 16th century.
