Historic Benedictine monastery

The Benedictine monastery Monastero di Sant’Antonio in Polesine was established on an island in the Po River by the beatified Beatrice d’Este in the 13th century. Even though the area has since been drained, its quaint setting still knows to impress and to elate. The monastery’s chapel is home to three choir chapels with frescos of Giotto’s successors depicting scenes from the life of Mary and Jesus.
