Tomb of Dante’s son
The church of San Francesco was originally built in the 13th century and afterwards subsequently extended several times. A special feature is that you can find the graves of two famous urban citizens here. Pietro Alighieri, Dante’s son, originally a poet from Verona, found his final resting place here in 1364, as well as Francesco Petrarch’s daughter in 1384. The frescoes in the first chapel on the left were created by Tommaso da Modena. From the Northern Wall Promenade, which begins at the Porta San Tommaso, you have a magnificent view of the Alps.
